The stack is an operating system
Indie builders used to talk about stacks as frameworks, databases, and deploy targets. Those still matter, but the bigger advantage is now the operating system around the product.
Research, writing, shipping, onboarding, support, analytics, and distribution can all be made faster without lowering the quality bar.
AI is useful when the loop is narrow
AI tools help most when the task has context, constraints, and a review step. They are weak substitutes for taste and strong accelerators for first drafts, transformations, summaries, test data, and repetitive research.
The builders getting leverage are not delegating the business. They are shortening the distance between idea and validated artifact.
Distribution needs a home base
Social platforms create bursts. Search creates compounding discovery. Email creates recall. A durable indie stack usually combines all three around a home base that the builder controls.
That home base can be a tool, publication, directory, calculator, template library, or community surface.
